Waffle House launches Belgian waffle boycott for World Cup

The Waffle House is getting serious about the World Cup. The United States takes on Belgium in the knockout round at 4pm Tuesday, and international tensions are high. (At least they seem to be on social media...)

On their Facebook page Tuesday, Waffle House posted a photo that leaves no doubts about their allegiances. Yes, they still want you to eat waffles. Just not Belgian waffles.

"And today we will dominate #USA," the post intones. It is accompanied by a photo of a pile of Belgian waffles propping up a round, American-style waffle with a tiny American flag planted firmly in the middle.

Tuesday's post was a nice follow-up to Waffle House's Monday tweet, "We don't believe in Belgium waffles," which delighted fans across the Twitterverse.

Then there's a Twitter user, MarriedWithChild, who posted a graphic of an eagle about to grasp an unsuspecting waffle in its claws.

Also on Twitter, @USMNTim posted this tasteful mock-up of Mt. Rushmore a la Team USA:

And @ExtraTV writes: Today's #WorldCup matchup is perfect for @USsoccer. We eat Belgians for breakfast #USAvsBEL #USA
