The Vincennes campus was put on precautionary lockdown overnight on a report of a police impersonator who was possibly armed in the nearby area.

Vincennes spokesman Duane Chattin told Eyewitness News that police responded to an off-campus student apartment around Midnight Wednesday on the report of a man impersonating an officer.  A witness said the man might be armed.

Police spotted the man, who initially eluded officers by running into an apartment building.

The man, described as white, in his 30s with a beard, and wearing dark clothing, was then spotted climbing out an apartment window and fleeing toward campus.

At that point, Vincennes officials put the campus on a precautionary lockdown and issued a campus alert.

After searching all buildings and finding nothing, the lock down was lifted.
