Vietnam vet from Evansville gets Purple Heart 46 years late
An Indiana man wounded in the Vietnam war received a big honor almost five decades later.
James Below accepted his Purple Heart medal during a ceremony in Evansville Wednesday.
Below was injured in Vietnam when his truck hit a land mine. He never received his medal because the paperwork got lost as he moved around the country.
"It means a lot - after 46 years," said Below, fighting back tears.
Below was a reservist until 1995.
