A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene on the Indianapolis south side.

It happened late Monday morning at South Meridian Street and West Troy Ave.

The victim was identified Monday evening as 63-year-old Kathleen Clark of Indianapolis. Clark's body was found in the grass west of South Meridian Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Clark was walking south on Meridian when she was struck. Police say the victim may have been struck earlier, but are awaiting autopsy result from the Marion County Coroner's Office for conformation.

Investigators collected several pieces of physical evidence that include a surveillance video. They believe the suspect vehicle is a 1997–2004 gold or tan Ford F150 pick-up truck with a camper shell. The truck may have right passenger-side damage, including a missing right front headlamp.

Investigators are not releasing video footage as it is considered a part of the active investigation.
