Valparaiso knocks off Milwaukee 77-62

LaVonte Dority scored 19 points to lead Valparaiso over Milwaukee 77-62 on Saturday.

The Crusaders (16-11, 8-4 Horizon) shot 51 percent from the floor and made 22 of 27 from the line. Jordan Coleman added 14 points and gathered 11 rebounds, while Moussa Gueye had four blocked shots.

Kyle Kelm led Milwaukee (16-10, 6-6) with 24 points and Matt Tiby had 14 points and eight boards.

Valpo opened a 10-point lead with 3:22 left in the first after Dority made a pair of free throws and a lay up on the next possession following an offensive rebound. The Crusaders held a 34-26 lead at the break.

Milwaukee whittled their deficit to two, at 45-43, on Malcolm Moore's trey with 12:52 left. Valpo responded, scoring the next eight points, and the Crusaders hit eight straight free throws inside 2:11 as Milwaukee resorted to fouling late in the game.
