In the same place Super Bowl visitors listened to concerts and mingled downtown, city promoters are planning a new series of events.

Georgia Street, which was revitalized to accommodate Super Bowl fans has since been utilized as a meeting space when other major events come to town. Now Melissa Thompson who manages Georgia Street for Indianapolis Downtown Inc wants to give everyone coming to downtown a reason to stop by.

'It's a great place for dinners, for VIP receptions, or just for people to get together,' explains Thompson.

Which is why the downtown promoter is offering a series of 'everyday' themed events starting with 'Workout Wednesdays'. With the help of an instructor from the YMCA, free Zumba classes will be offered on Georgia Street Wednesday from Noon-12:45pm.

Also on the calendar, Food Truck Fridays and coming in May, Happy Hour outside the Omni Hotel.

"The more people that come down here the more event rentals we get," explains Thompson.

Money made in renting Georgia Street as a venue is used to maintain it.

Like Monument Circle, Thompson envisions Georgia Street as a lunchtime retreat in the summer months.

'We just want people to come down and enjoy the space and realize it's here.'
