Metro Police are investigating a pair of gas station robberies that occurred within 90 minutes of each other on the northeast side overnight.

The first robbery took place shortly before 12:30 a.m. at the Speedway station at 56th and Emerson.  The suspect took cash and cigarettes.

Police say a man fitting a similar description was one of two suspects who robbed the Speedway at 62nd and Allisonville Road just before 2:00 a.m.  In that robbery, a customer in the store was also robbed.

Again, the robbers got away with cash and cigarettes.

Police described the two as black males in dark clothing who kept their heads down, presumably to avoid identification by in-store security cameras.

Police say one showed a handgun and the two left on foot from the Allisonville station.
