Two pedestrians struck by vehicles on Indianapolis north side

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police were called to two accidents Saturday night involving a person being struck by a vehicle.

The first accident took place on the 2900 block of West 52nd street around 10:30.

IMPD say 39-year-old Christopher Baptiste fell into the road directly in front of a passing car. The car did not have time to stop and ran over Baptiste. He was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

The driver, 36-year-old Carlos Benitez stopped after the accident and cooperated with police.

The second accident took place an hour later on 93rd St. and College Ave.

IMPD say a driver reported striking a pedestrian.  The victim, 50-year-old John Dennison was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, 35-year-old Jeremy Fetty told police Dennison was in the middle of the road with his dog.  He tried to swerve but was unable to miss hitting him. 

Fetty stopped after the accident to help and call 911.
