Two arrested in shooting outside Anderson restaurant

Two teens are in custody after a shooting in the parking lot of the IHOP in the 1900 block of East 53rd Street in Anderson early Sunday morning. 

Anderson Police officers were called to the restaurant on the south side of Anderson just before 3 a.m. for the report of a person shot.  Officers arrived and found a 17-year-old suffering from a gun shot wound to the chest.  He was transported to St. Vincent Hospital of Anderson in critical condition and was later transported to an Indianapolis hospital by air ambulance where he is in stable condition.

Investigators found that the 17-year-old and Michael Wright, 18, of Indianapolis had been having an ongoing argument for a couple of weeks. There was a confrontation in the parking lot that resulting in Wright shooting the other teen.  

Wright was with another man, 19-year-old Christopher McGregor, who holds a valid gun permit and was carrying a gun that Wright took from him and shot the 17-year-old.  

Wright and McGregor fled the scene southbound on I 69 where they were pulled over and taken into custody by Hamilton County officers.

Wright faces charges of attempted murder.  McGregor is facing charges of aiding, causing and inducing attempted murder.
