Two arrested in Indianapolis for human trafficking
Two people face charges in connection with human trafficking and promoting prostitution.
Indianapolis Metro Police detectives arrested Jerry Mitchell, 24, and Joniece Peet, 26.
IMPD is describing Mitchell as the alleged leader of a human trafficking operation involving teenage victims and at least one 12-year-old child with special needs. Mitchell faces multiple counts of child molestation, human trafficking and promoting prostitution.
Peet was arrested for promoting prostitution for her alleged involvement in the operation.
IMPD's Vice and Child Abuse Units are involved in the case. They say the alleged incidents happened at different locations in Marion County.
Formal charges are pending. IMPD says further arrests are possible.
