Two arrested in death of 12-year-old
Greensburg- Two people are under arrest following an investigation into the death of a 12-year-old boy Friday.
The Decatur County Coroner's autopsy report will dictate charges in the case of the Greensburg boy's death. Devin Parsons was found dead in his family home on Friday and now police are trying to determine how he died and why.
"It's all new," says Josh Welsh, who is still trying to sort out what happened to his nephew. "Well, what I was told was, my sister beat him."
Police arrested Tasha Parsons, 29, on the preliminary charge of murder. Thirty-year-old Waldo Lynn Jones Jr. was also arrested for neglect of a dependent.
Welsh says, "What I think happened, I think Waldo done it and Tasha is taking the blame for it, is what I think."
Now, the extended family is wondering about the whereabouts of the two remaining children.
Greensburg is still recovering from the tornadoes that struck less than two weeks ago. Earlier this week, Honda announced it was adding jobs at it's Greensburg plant, which gave the community a much needed lift and now as seniors pose for pictures on their graduation day comes the cold, bold slap-in-the-face headline: One found dead in Greensburg.
"He wanted to come stay and Tasha wouldn't let him. He told Waldo the day before that he hated him and wanted him out of the house," says Welsh.
That was Thursday. By Friday, the 12-year-old boy who loved to fish and felt he needed to protect his mother was dead and she would be in jail, charged with his murder.
The cause of the child's death has not been released, pending an autopsy.
