Two people were ejected from a vehicle when it crashed on I-69 in Grant County on Saturday.

Indiana State Police and the Grant County Sheriff's Department responded to the crash at approximately 7:36 p.m. Saturday.  It happened near Gas City near mile marker 260.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates driver Shannon Davis, 33, Fremont, was going northbound on I-69 in a 1995 Ford Explorer when a left front tire blew out, causing the Explorer to careen out of control and start to roll. The Ford rolled at least three times, ejecting Davis through the sunroof.

Daniel Gaiski, 39, Fremont, a passenger in the Ford, was partially ejected through the driver's side window.

The Ford came to rest in the median after it was stopped by the median cable barriers.

Samaritan Helicopter flew both Davis and Gaiski from the crash scene to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne. Davis sustained a head injury and a possible broken arm in the crash. Gaiski suffered a head injury and a possible broken leg. They were not wearing a seat belt.

Officials say this is an ongoing investigation, but at this time neither the use of alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to this crash.

Traffic was down to one lane in both directions at 9:30 p.m..
