Three families were displaced Friday in a condominium fire that caused $250,000 in damage.

Firefighters with the Indianapolis Fire Department were called to the Tudor Park Condominiums a little after 2:00 pm. That's near Mitthoeffer and E. 38th St.

Black smoke was showing on arrival and it took about 25 minutes to get the fire under control. Eleven IFD units and two units from the Lawrence Fire Department responded.

Three of the four damaged units were occupied. One of the residents told firefighters she heard a loud pop and found fire in her garage. She grabbed her two pets, a dog named Sybil and a cat named Tomcat, and escaped safely. The other occupants also got out safely. All of them will be staying with relatives.
