Three arrested, one shot in Black Friday shoplifting incident in Illinois
Violence in the middle of Black Friday shopping sent one person to the hospital and others are in custody after a police officer shot a shoplifting suspect in Romeoville, Illinois.
Police say three people were trying to shoplift from a Kohl's. When police were called, one person ran from the store and got into a car. As the suspect tried to shut the door, he caught one officer's arm. The car drove off, dragging the officer along.
Another officer fired his weapon several times at the driver's side of the car, hitting the driver. All three shoplifters were caught.
The violent outbreak took shoppers by surprise.
"A little shaken up. I'm not bad or anything. I was within five feet of everything happening so it's a little surreal," said Phil Koster, shopper.
Two police officers and the wounded suspect were taken to the hospital.
