Teens mentor young readers in Greenfield program

A Greenfield program that pairs teenage mentors with young readers is helping to build skills and confidence.

The Teens Read the Way program at the Hancock County Public Library enlists 25 teen volunteers to help younger children with their reading in one-on-one sessions.

The Daily Reporter says the program is in its fourth year and is a popular one for volunteers. Teen services librarian Christy Beaver says she rarely has trouble finding teens who want to participate.

Volunteer Katie Floyd says forming a bond with the younger children is the best part of the experience.

The programs runs through July 17.
