Teenager arrested for north Indianapolis mail theft
A juvenile was taken into custody Wednesday for reportedly stealing mail from north Indianapolis homes.
A witness told police the young man was knocking on doors in the 4100 block of North Pennsylvania Street, then grabbing and opening the mail when no one answered. Police stopped the 15-year-old when they spotted him on a porch of a home on East 43rd Street. The teen told police he was looking for money.
"We keep being told to lock your cars, lock your houses, look for strange cars on your street, any behavior that's out of the ordinary, pay attention to it and that's what happened today," said neighbor Rees Morgan.
The witness positively identified the teenager as the mail theft suspect. He was arrested on preliminary charges of theft and receiving stolen property.
