Teacher surrenders to face charges for school incident
An Indianapolis teacher is facing charges for an incident that occurred in her classroom earlier this year.
Asia Moses, a teacher at Tindley Accelerated School, surrendered to sheriff's deputies Wednesday. She was wanted on a felony warrant for neglect of a dependent and a misdemeanor count of criminal recklessness for the April incident.
The school said in a statement Wednesday that no students or staff reported the incident to administrators for several weeks. Once school officials learned of the incident, they notified the child's parents and conducted an investigation.
"Tindley Accelerated Schools takes student safety very seriously. It is our top priority," the statement from the school read. "(We) have reiterated with the entire staff our high expectations that safety protocols be followed at times, especially in a lab environment."
Moses is no longer employed by the school. The school's statement did not provide details of the incident that led to the investigation.
