Taco Bell adds high protein menu items
If you're looking for a quick meal that's good for you, you can add Taco Bell to the list of fast food restaurants catering to nutrition-conscious diners.
Taco Bell announced they are trying out some new high protein menu items.
The fast food chain is testing what they're calling a 'power protein' menu option in Dayton, Ohio. The menu was tested in California with good results.
The burritos and bowls will have more than 20 grams of protein and less than 450 calories each.
The power protein menu is significant because balanced nutrition drove product creation. This is the first menu item created with new nutritional guidelines in mind.
Many restaurant chains are feeling pressure to adopt "fresh ingredient" and "healthy" approaches to attract customers they've lost to chains like Chipotle and Panera Bread.
