A 62-year-old man was arrested Sunday evening after a standoff with police.

The suspect, Steven Skipworth, surrendered to police around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police were called to a house that had been converted into apartments in the 400 block of Shelby Street around 5 p.m. to investigate a report of two people stabbed.  Shortly after they arrived they found that the suspect had barricaded himself into one of the apartments and SWAT was called.

Officers found that a man and woman had been stabbed.  The man was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He was later stabilized at the hospital and upgraded to serious condition. The woman had superficial wounds on her arms and was in good condition at the hospital Sunday.

Detectives are investigating to determine what led to the Skipworth stabbing the man and woman.
