Police hope security video of a man who allegedly abducted a teenage girl at gunpoint and sexually assaulted her will help lead to his arrest.

The 14-year-old girl was walking in the parking lot of a pawn shop at E. 38th Street and Post Road June 18 when the man pulled out a gun and ordered her into his car in broad daylight.

A security camera outside the First Cash pawn shop recorded the man's getaway.

The lot is right across the street from where Rachael Laurence and her daughter catch the city bus. Laurence says she has always warned her daughter about strangers.

"If a grown man, or anybody, for that matter, says to her, 'Come here to the car, I want to tell you something, I want to ask you a question,' no, you can ask me from over here," Laurence said, recalling her advice for her daughter.

The suspect in the abduction was driving a four-door tan or silver Ford Taurus. The victim described the man as a white male in his 40s with graying hair, wearing an orange collared shirt.

As police continue to search and wait for clues, Laurence urges others to stay alert.

"I was taught when I was younger to be aware of everything around you, so you would know when somebody is coming up behind you, to the side of you. You have to be aware," Laurence said.

Police are also looking to see if the same suspect is connected to any other attacks in the area.

If you have any information that could help police in the case, call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
