A man led Metro Police on a chase from an east side motel to a neighborhood where he fired at police. He was arrested after breaking into a house where the resident tackled him.

Police say the chase started after a noise complaint at the Rodeway Inn near 35th and Shadeland around 1:00 a.m. Monday.  The complaint accused the noisy man of waving a gun.

Police located his car a short time later on Shadeland, and the pursuit began, weaving west as far south as 10th Street, until the suspect jumped out near 23rd and Dearborn and fired at police as he ran and climbed over a fence.

Police found him after he broke into a house in the 2400 block of Wheeler, a woman screamed, and her husband tackled the intruder.  Police confiscated his gun and took him into custody.

His identity was not released by officers at the scene.
