Peru, Indiana - Five teenagers are injured, one critically, following a shooting. Two people are in custody in connection with the incident.

It happened Friday night in Peru, Indiana, which is about 70 miles north of Indianapolis.

Police say it was a drive-by shooting that happened in a wooded area right behind one of the most popular teenage hangouts in Peru, Homer's Bowling Alley.

Dale Birnell was working in the back when the next thing he knew, the parking lot was filled with police.

"The story I got from some kids that knew these kids was this was a planned thing. Not the  gun shots, but they had planned on meeting down here in this wooded area to fight," said Birnell.

That is the same story police are getting. High school kids were meeting Friday night to settle a dispute, but the dispute turned violent.

The trigger man, according to police, 22-year-old Danny Jake Case, who is on probation, is currently being held on a $347,000 bail at the Miami County Jail on charges relating to the shooting. His passenger, a 15-year-old, has been sent to a juvenile facility in Kokomo. Both are being questioned by police.

Case was booked in on five counts of Attempted Murder, five counts of Aggravated Battery, five Counts of Criminal Recklessness with a handgun and one count of Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a handgun. The 15-year-old from Peru is still facing charges for his involvement in this shooting.

Investigation reveals that, at approximately 7:00pm  several juvenile had met at the shooting location to watch a fight which was to take place between the 15-year-old incarcerated male and another.

Shortly after several teenagers arrived at the area west of Homers when they observed a white truck driven by Case pull into the area towards them.

Witnesses state both the driver and the passenger had red bandannas covering the lower part of their faces but they were still able to recognize them. As they began to walk over towards the truck they heard several shots being fired.

Witnesses state they saw the driver point a gun into the crowd and begin shooting and then take off at a high rate of speed leaving the area.

The suspects vehicle was later located abandoned north of town near Lovers Lane and Meridian road.

Both suspects were located shortly after this at 414 East 3rd in Peru where they were taken into custody.

Victims include a 17-year-old male who suffered a graze wound on the right side.

A 16-year-old male who received a gun shot wound to the torso, however police believe this bullet might have ricocheted due to the fact there was no entry but only swelling and bruising.

Two 15-year-old males, both with an entrance and exit wound to their left thighs.

A 17-year-old male who received a gun shot wound to his rear torso with the bullet entrance near the left arm pit area. This male has been admitted to Dukes Hospital Intensive Care unit.
