Strong to severe storms possible Thursday

Central Indiana is still under a slight risk for severe storms as we head into late this afternoon and tonight.  Damaging wind and flooding are our top concerns, however, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

severe threats

Highs will reach the upper 50s to around 60 today before a line of showers and storms sweeps through that will bring the potential for severe storms.

As of right now, the timing for severe weather will be 4pm to 10pm, however, as the line develops and races across the state, the storms will more than likely be fast moving.

1-2″ of rain is possible, as well as wind gusts in excess of 60mph+ in thunderstorms.

With the snow melting, and additional rain, flooding is possible.  That's why river flood warnings (bright green) and flood watches (dark green) have been issued.

flood watchwarning

After the storms pass tonight, temps drop into the upper 2os, and wind gusts up to 45mph settle in.  A wind advisory will go into effect tonight at 7pm and expire at 7pm Friday.

wind advisory

Early Friday morning a few flurries are possible, and we say goodbye to mild temps as we head into the weekend, as colder air settles in.
