Part of staying healthy is making sure you have a primary care physician.

This weekend, St. Vincent is joining us at the Health and Fitness Expo to help you "Get a Doc."

If you aren't sure about what kind of screening you should be getting for your age and gender, St. Vincent aims to help provide you a road map at the Expo. You can learn your preventative health score at one of five iPad stations and have a St. Vincent professional interpret the results for you.

It's the type of conversation recommended with your primary care physician, but there are many challenges to finding the right one.

"There are a lot of barriers for people to coming to see primary care. First and foremost, finding the right physician, finding someone you feel comfortable with," said Dr. Annette Fearnot. "Also cost, insurance.

"People are busy and have jobs and so we have even tried, in our office, to add extra hours, extended hours, to try to promote people coming after work or before work, if it's possible," she added.

The goal of the primarey carprimaryian is to provide preventive care, be a central point of contact and help reduce costly trips to the emergency room.
St. Vincent is offering free, 15-minute, get-acquainted appointments with its primary care doctors. The hospital has set up a Careline to help connect you with a provider and will have doctors at the Expo to meet with you and answer your questions.

They are also offering a drawing for a $100 gift card to encourage you to stop by and start a conversation.
