SPJ honors Eyewitness News with "Best in Indiana" awards

The Indiana Society of Professional Journalists honored WTHR with several awards for outstanding reporting.

The organization recognized the excellent storytelling at Eyewitness News as the station swept the top two spots for Sports Reporting.

Carrie Cline and photojournalist Joel Clausen won first place for their report about Blue, the Colts Mascot.

Scott Swan and photojournalist Steve Rhodes took home second place for their exclusive interview for former boxer Mike Tyson.

The 13 Investigates team received two first place awards.

Sandra Chapman worked with photojournalists John Whalen and Scott Allen on a report about a student punished with Duct Tape at school. They won 1st place in the Education Coverage category.

Bob Segall, photojournalist Bill Ditton and producer Cyndee Hebert took top honors in the Environmental Reporting category for their story “Indiana’s Toxic Air.”

The Indiana Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists held it’s annual “Best in Indiana” contest awards dinner at the Indianapolis Marriott North Friday night.
