A commercial supply ship is en route to the International Space Station.

The private SpaceX company launched its unmanned Falcon rocket from Cape Canaveral on Friday morning, right on time. Aboard the rocket is a Dragon capsule filled with more than a ton of station equipment and experiments.

This is the third supply run for SpaceX. The company is run by billionaire Elon Musk, who helped create PayPal. Musk monitored the launch from SpaceX headquarters in California.

SpaceX has a billion-dollar contract with NASA for space station shipments.

There's no ice cream this time for the six station astronauts. The freezers are full. But SpaceX included fruit straight from the orchard.

The space station was orbiting above the Atlantic when the Falcon soared.
