Investigators in northern Indiana suspect a fire that killed two people Saturday morning was started on purpose.

Firefighters pulled the victims from the South Bend home as flames shot through the front window. The man and woman found inside both died and homicide detectives believe their deaths were not accidental.

"Police and fire department personnel arrived and found the home fully engulfed. Eventually, they were able to knock down the fire and get inside the home and found two people who are now pronounced dead," said Cmdr. Tim Corbett with the St. Joseph Metro Homicide Unit.

The man who died owned the home but, at last check, police still did not know his connection to the female victim.
