Soldier returns to see two-month-old son for first time
An Indiana soldier is back home tonight and meeting his two-month-old son for the first time.
Family members greeted U.S. Army Warrant Officer 2 William Stafford Wednesday night at Indianapolis International Airport. Stafford, a helicopter pilot, has been in Afghanistan since January.
He will now spend time a short time at home catching up with his family, including his two-month-old son named Grey. Stafford and wife Lindsay of Indianapolis also have a daughter, Lily, 3.
"It's kind of overwhelming but it's great to be home," said Stafford. "You know, it's been eight months since the last time I saw them, and Grey wasn't here, so it's just nice to be home."
Stafford's brother Joel is also deployed to Afghanistan with the Army.
Stafford will eventually go back to Afghanistan to complete his yearlong deployment.
