Smartphone app lets you pay for Broad Ripple parking
INDIANAPOLIS - A new smartphone app will make it easier to pay for meter parking in Broad Ripple.
Starting Sept. 6th, Parkmobile's pay-by-phone-parking app will allow you to pay for the exact amount of time you park in all 174 meters in Broad Ripple. It even sends you a text message 15 minutes before your parking time expires so you can get back to your car in time.
"It's really a paradigm shift for consumers to really think that they can pay with their phone and not put coins or credit cards in the meter and walk away with that the feeling that they've paid. But the enforcement agency that rights the tickets has the back office capability via the web to identify that you've paid for that," said Michael Sanocki, VP of operations, Parkmobile.
There's a 25 cent fee for each transaction. The app works on coin meters and new meters plus pay boxes for parking zones. It will be available in all of Indianapolis in the next few months.
