Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman dies
Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman has died after suffering from liver failure.
Hanneman died yesterday morning at a hospital in southern California. He was 49.
Hanneman suffered a spider bite two years ago that resulted in a flesh-eating disease so bad he nearly lost his arm. He had to relearn how to walk and play guitar, and he has not played with Slayer since early 2011.
It's uncertain if the bite was a factor in Hanneman's death.
Hanneman and guitarist Kerry King formed Slayer in 1982. Hanneman was one of the primary songwriters in the band and wrote or co-wrote such Slayer classics as "Seasons in the Abyss," ''War Ensemble" and "Angel of Death."
