Shapiro's Delicatessen is closing its Carmel location, the business said Wednesday in a press release.

The deli on South Rangeline Road has been in business for 12 years. It will close next Monday.

Shapiro's downtown Indianapolis location and the airport restaurant will remain open.

Brian Shapiro, the company's president, says it was a strategic decision that will allow his business to "re-focus our commitment to our downtown restaurant and continue to serve Indianapolis with the high-quality, delicious Kosher-style food for which we are famous."

He thanked customers, along with Carmel's mayor and the Carmel Redevelopment Commission.

Shapiro's has been in business since 1905 and grew into a restaurant/deli in the 1930s.
