They dated for more than a decade. But did Shakira's ex-boyfriend help make her the star she is today?

Shakira says no - and that's why she's asking a New York judge to toss out a $250 million lawsuit filed by her ex, Antonio de La Rua.

The son of Argentina's former president and Shakira split in 2011 after a long relationship - and he's gone to court, saying "The Voice" judge owes him a quarter billion dollars because he helped shape the "Shakira brand."

The New York Daily News reports Shakira has said in court papers that she had many advisers - and de la Rua was just one of them.
