This weekend will feel more like a typical July day with high heat and humidity. It will be hot, humid and hazy today with dew points soaring into the low 70s. Heat indices will make it feel like it’s in the low 90s. A complex of storms will be possible this morning into early afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s with breezy winds out of the south.
More storms will be likely later this evening as a cold front approaches. With the warm and moist unstable air in place, these storms have the potential of being strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center now has most of our viewing area under a Moderate Risk of severe weather. The main threats are damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rain.
Right now, it looks like thunderstorms will begin after 8pm this evening and continue into the early morning hours on Sunday. The timing is still up in the air and your SkyTrak13 weather team encourages you to keep checking back on the latest updates on the timing and strength of these storms.
Temperatures will only fall into the low 70s Sunday morning. Another round of thunderstorms will be possible on Sunday afternoon. Most of central Indiana is under a slight risk of severe weather on Sunday.
