Senate Democrat picked for national fellowship
Senator Karen Tallian is joining policymakers from other states for a weeklong "intellectual boot camp" in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Council of State Governments announced Monday that Tallian is one of 48 state leaders from throughout the country picked as a Henry Toll fellow for 2014. A nine-member committee of state leaders, many who are Toll Fellows themselves, reviewed a record number of applications to select the class.
Tallian, a Portage Democrat, will join the group for a week of training at the start of September.
Tallian said she hopes to improve her skills as a "legislator and leader."
