Scattered showers and storms with temps possibly reaching 90

Chuck Lofton

Keep the umbrella handy today and tomorrow. There will be scattered showers and storms both days, with highs in the range of 85-90 degrees. Much of central Indiana is under a slight risk for severe weather this afternoon.

We still have not had a 90 degree day in Indianapolis since September 11,2013. That may soon change.

Our best chance for our first 90 degree days of the season arrives this weekend. We have 90 degrees in the forecast on Friday, but if we get storms we may miss it. We have 92 degrees in the forecast for Saturday through Monday. It will be a hot and humid stretch of weather. If you have missed the typical summer heat, then the next few days are for you. The long range outlook calls for the heat to continue into next week. We'll see thunderstorms break the cycle a bit next Wednesday.

On this day in Central Indiana Weather History

1923....1.23 inches of rain fell in Indianapolis, a record for the date.
