Residents, police teaming up in northside neighborhood

Residents said they look out for each other in a northside neighborhood where an 18-year-old suspect reportedly drew a weapon on cops Tuesday morning.

They also hope to strengthen their relationship with the police. An officer who works that beat said the best thing neighbors can do is call them when they see anything suspicious.

"If it's nothing, it's nothing, but we'd rather be safe than sorry; to check on something that you felt was out of the ordinary," said Ofc. Andrew Clark with IMPD. "You got that gut feeling to where you said, 'Hey, this isn't right. That guy is looking right at me and I don't know what's going on'."

Officer Clark told Eyewitness News he definitely feels like the relationship with police and neighbors has improved in that area.
