Rain changing to snow across central Indiana Wednesday morning
Rain will turn to snow overnight in central Indiana, prompting Indy Snow Force to call out 90 drivers starting at 11:00 pm.
DPW drivers will not drop salt while it's raining, because the rain will only wash the salt off the streets. Indy Snow Force will monitor the weather conditions throughout the night, and drivers will apply salt once the precipitation changes to snow.
At 4:00 a.m. temperatures in the metro Indianapolis area were still above the freezing mark.

Road closures due to high water
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says high water forced the closure of State Road 42 in the Crawfordsville District in Morgan County between State Road 142 and Little Point. The closure will remain in effect until waters recede.
Also, in Putnam County, State Road 42 is closed due to high water six miles east of US 231.
Rain will change to snow after 3 a.m. Wednesday. Up to an inch of snow is likely from Terre Haute to Kokomo by 7 am. The snowfall will start in Indianapolis by 7 am and continue through the day.
Most of the Eyewitness News viewing area will receive two inches of snow during the day and another inch is possible Wednesday night into Thursday.
A high of 35 is predicted for Wednesday and Thursday will see a high of 36.
Clouds and flurries linger through Friday.
Bigger snow totals are likely in the northern tier of the state where a winter storm watch goes into effect Tuesday.
The same storm system is expected to dump a foot of snow northeast of Kansas City.
