Rahal wins fight for National Guard sponsorship
Score a victory for Graham Rahal.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing won their fight with Panther Racing for the Army National Guard sponsorship. The Guard will sponsor Rahal's No. 15 car in the upcoming IndyCar season.
The National Guard awarded the sponsorship to Rahal last fall, but Panther appealed based on the fact they had held the contract since 2008. All military sponsorships are reviewed annually.
The U.S. Government Accountability Office denied Panther's appeal last month.
Rahal says it's important an American drive the Guard car and "there is more pride to be involved in this than anyone can know."
The IndyCar season gets underway the last weekend in March in St. Petersburg, Florida.
