Purdue's AJ Hammons suspended for three games
Purdue men's basketball head coach Matt Painter has announced that sophomore A.J. Hammons has been suspended for the first three games of the 2013-14 season due to a violation of team rules.
Hammons will miss the two exhibition games against the University of Indianapolis on Oct. 30 and Wayne State (Neb.) on Nov. 4, as well as the regular-season opener against Northern Kentucky on Nov. 8.
"A.J. has been suspended for the first three games of this season for conduct not representative of this program or university," Painter said. "We expect the young men in our program to meet certain standards, and they must be held accountable when those standards are not met."
Hammons, a 7-0, 251-pound center from Gary, Ind., averaged 10.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game a year ago while earning a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
