"Promingdale's" event helps Riley patients get ready for prom
INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - It's prom season, which means it's time to find the perfect dress and everything that goes with it.
Patients at Riley Cancer Center had personal shoppers Thursday to help them get ready for the big dance. They got to pick out their dream outfits and accessories.
More than a thousand dresses, tuxedoes, shoes, purses and jewelry were donated for the annual "Promingdale's" event.
It's a rewarding experience for those behind the effort to get to see their excitement firsthand.
"Close to tears, to see how much they enjoy it and their faces...just warms the heart," said event chairman Denise Scheidler.
The Riley Cancer Center Family Prom is two weeks from Saturday at the facility's outpatient center.
