Preparations underway for WTHR Health and Fitness Expo
After months of planning, WTHR is hosting a Health and Fitness Expo this weekend. It's your chance to learn more about healthy living, from free health screenings to celebrities and live demonstrations, as well as fun for the kids.
Crews will begin setting up the Exposition Hall at the State Fairgrounds today, adding booths and tables and sets that you'll be able to visit during this first-of-its-kind exposition on Saturday and Sunday.
The Kidzone will be an interactive exhibit to teach children healthy habits in a fun way. It's designed by the Ruth Lilly Health Education Center, which has been captivating the imaginations of children throughout Marion County for 30 years.
One of the messages for kids at this year's expo is eating healthy. "They're gonna get to come in and participate, learning about the food groups, learn how to eat in a balanced healthy way," said Anna Hanthorn of the Lilly Center. "There will be a hands-on way to learn how much sugar might be in the drinks they're drinking, and how much fat is in the snacks they're choosing."
Radio Disney is also bringing it's show to the Health and Fitness Expo. Their road crew will re-create the energy, music and excitement that families hear every day, on WRDZ 98.3 FM.
Radio Disney will appear on the Main Stage both Saturday and Sunday.
Kids can also check out the Colts Play 60 Zone, a traveling football-fitness area designed to promote the NFL's play 60 message and get kids moving.
The Pacers mascot will also be at the Health and Fitness Expo. Boomer will take a break from the NBA Playoffs to lead kids in some fun exercises, all part of Boomer's Boot Camp.
Admission is $5 at the door on Saturday and Sunday. But you can print a free admission ticket by clicking here: Download your free ticket
