Power outage affects over 28,000 in Indianapolis
Over 28,000 homes and businesses lost power in Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon.
By 3:35 pm, Indianapolis Power and Light reported that most customers had power restored.
IPL says the outage originated around Lafayette Road and 18th Street after a static line fell.
At the height of the outage, 28,880 IPL customers without power.
The outage had the biggest impact in the area north of 56th Street with over 2,500 without power, and many traffic lights were out at intersections including Michigan Road between 71st and Kessler Blvd.
Pike and Center Townships also reported over 2,500 without power as of 3:05 pm.
St. Vincent Hospital tells Eyewitness News that it lost power for about 20 minutes.
