Police seek suspects in motel parking lot shooting

Police are asking for help identifying suspects in a shooting at a west Indianapolis motel.

Metro homicide detectives were called to a shooting in the 5000 block of Lafayette Road early in the morning of October 4. The call came shortly before 5:45 a.m. on a man shot in head in parking lot of the Quality Inn.

The patient has been transported to IU Health-Methodist Hospital with a gunshot wound.  His condition is considered life-threatening.

Police said Friday they may have identified the shooter but are not releasing a name yet. Police have found bullet holes in several cars in the parking lot.

The first suspect is described as 25-30 years old, standing 5'2" tall, weighing 130-150 pounds with braided hair. He was wearing a white jacket at the time of the shooting. The second suspect is said to be a black male with braids and was wearing a white t-shirt.

Several people were detained at the scene to be questioned.

Police have not released the victim's identity. He remains in critical condition at IU Health-Methodist Hospital.
