Police say no armed man on Arizona campus
Officials at the University of Arizona -- in Tucson -- say a search for a gunman turned up nothing. Police converged on the campus after receiving a report of a man with a gun.
The department Twitter site said: "UAPD has cleared the Admin Bldg. No one was found, no injuries or signs of a shooting. The Stu Union IS OPEN."
A police spokesman says it's too early to say if the report was legitimate or a hoax.
A text alert was sent to students and staff at 5:07 p.m. Friday saying police had received a report of a man with a rifle inside the Administration Building.
Officers from the University of Arizona Police Department told students and staff to avoid the area.
Police searched for a few hours before declaring the area open.
Campus police didn't immediately release any information on the search for the reported armed man of if they had found anyone.
