Police: Man had two-year-old passenger while fleeing officer
Hendricks County deputies say a man fled from police Monday with his wife and child in his vehicle.
Lt. James Yetter, a Hendricks County Sheriff's spokesman, says it began with a report from a citizen about an erratic driver.
Police dispatchers alerted officers, and a Hendricks County deputy located the small truck. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield.
The driver led officers on a brief pursuit which ended in a single-vehicle crash when the suspect lost control trying to make a turn at County Road 200 South and County Road 450 West near Hadley.
The driver's wife and two-year-old child, passengers in the pick-up truck, were checked by medics at the scene and were found not to be injured.
The suspect, a 36-year-old male from Hendricks County, was taken to a hospital to be checked for injuries. Upon release, he will be jailed on preliminary charges of felony DUI and resisting law enforcement.
