Indianapolis Metro Police are searching for two men who are wanted for breaking into a home and shooting the homeowner.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the 7600 block of Windy Hill Way on the city's far east side.

Investigators say two men dressed in all black clothing kicked-in the front door and fired two shots at Timothy Stofer, 31, after forcing their way into his home.

Investigators say the suspects may have been startled by two children ages five and 12.  They were inside at the time and watched the whole thing.

Stofer was taken to Eskenazi hospital with a gunshot wound to the mouth and chest.

The intruders were gone by the time officers arrived.  Officers did find a large box full of suspected narcotics inside a closet.

Police believe the crime was an isolated incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
