Indianapolis Metro Police have identified a man who was found dead from a gunshot wound in a northwest side home early Friday.

The deceased person is 20-year-old Darien Val of Indianapolis. Detectives are looking into the case but have not made any arrests.

Metro Police Sergeant Kendale Adams says officers were called out to a home in the 1100 block of West 35th Street around 7:30 a.m. Friday.  They found Val dead inside the home.

IMPD officers had been in the area around midnight after getting calls from neighbors about shots being fired.  Officers didn't find anything until they went back through the area this morning.  During their investigation inside the home, officers did find a small trace of marijuana.  Officers also found some dice, which has them looking into whether or not there was illegal gambling going on inside the home.

Sgt. Adams says crime lab technicians were inside the home trying to piece together what happened.
