Police have identified the body of a woman pulled from a creek on the northwest side of Crawfordsville Thursday afternoon.

Montgomery County Sheriff Mark Casteel says the body was discovered in Sugar Creek, about two miles west of US 231, in the course of a missing persons investigation.

The body is that of Georgina E. Evans, 41, of West Crawfordsville. A family member said Evans hadn't been seen since 1:00 am on March 3rd and opened up a missing persons report. Another report said she was seen at Stoney's Pub in Crawfordsville on the evening of March 5th.

An investigator with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department walked along Sugar Creek between Evans' last known location and her home. The investigator found her body entangled in a brush pile at around 12:45 pm.

Indiana Conservation Officers, Crawfordsville Fire Department and the Montgomery County Coroner recovered the body from the creek. Preliminary autopsy results are consistent with drowning and toxicology results are pending.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is seeking any information concerning Georgina Evans' whereabouts from the early evening hours of March 5, 2013 to March 7, 2013.

Evans is described as 5'4" and 160 pounds having red hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, dark blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Police suspect Evans may have entered the creek in the area of the US 231 or US 136 Sugar Creek bridges.
