Police helicopter crashes in Atlanta killing two officers
An Atlanta police helicopter, searching for a missing 9-year-old child crashed, killing two officers aboard.
Police spokesman Carlos Campos confirmed the deaths and said no one was hurt on the ground.
The helicopter carrying the searchers went down about 10:30pm Saturday.
Photographs broadcast on local television after the crash, showed what appeared to be flaming debris on a road.
Campos told The Associated Press, they were trying to find out what caused the crash, but he said a search was under way for the missing child at the time. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution later reported that a missing child was later found unharmed.
Campos says police are working with federal aviation authorities at the scene.
