Police investigating an alarm at an Indianapolis residence made an arrest when they found a large amount of drugs and guns in the home.

Officers searching the residence in the 1900 block of Cross Willow Lane Tuesday evening smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Investigating further and with a search warrant, they discovered six large marijuana plants in a bedroom closet.

Police also confiscated 27 handguns, five rifles, a shotgun and several rounds of ammunition from the home.

The home's owner, 52-year-old George Schlemmer, was arrested and faces preliminary charges of dealing in marijuana and possession of marijuana, both felonies.

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will determine if formal charges will be filed.
